Paper Souls started as Husband and Wife Duo- Luke and Sarah Triffitt; in the Tasmanian Winter of 2010. The acoustic folk sound, accompanied by Sarah’s harmonies, was a great contrast for Luke; who for 10 years was Front Man and songwriter for rock band The Styles. These songs that came to be Paper Souls; were a collection of moments and stories Luke had been quietly writing and gathering over the years.
November 2013; delivered Denni Sulzberger on Cello (also of Thieves) to make Paper Souls a trio. Denni’s grounded, peaceful vibe and sweet sounds have transformed the songs and brought new life to them. Quite early in; (between Parenthood, Gigs and Day Jobs) Paper Souls had started recording and working on the release of their Self-Titled Debut EP. It was a long and intense process which ended up being recorded, produced, mixed and mastered all by Luke at their home Studio;
Valley Sounds and released independently on April 5th 2014. The 4 track EP features friends- Liam Landeg and Jason Smith on Drums, Cajon and Electric Guitar.
March 2014 introduced Cam Locke on Bass and Cameron Jones on Drums; finally completing the Paper Souls band. Their eagerly anticipated live debut was made at the EP launch in April at The Gunners Arms Tavern, Launceston. The old songs have been renewed and the band are now writing for their next EP as a five piece.
It’s a folk rock sound, but we don’t just write music to make you move, we want you to feel what we feel, whether it’s emotional or physical…just be there with us in that moment - connected…
