“A potential production powerhouse, one that enters the music scene fully formed, with some big ideas and the talent to back it up” – Pile Rats (Jan 23, 2018)
Tasmanian alternative electronic duo, Sumner (Chloe Wilson & Jack McLaine) have “developed a keen grasp of brooding, addictive melody” – (Mixdown Magazine). With their blend of detailed electronic production, rich acoustic sounds and honest lyrics, Sumner’s compelling songwriting continues to captivate a growing audience.
Sumner caught the attention of the music world in 2018 releasing their debut single “Pictures” and EP “All That I Am”; with their calming, dexterous production and songs being compared to the likes of Frank Ocean and Lorde. The collection of songs is perfectly unique and completed self-assured, not only rare for such a young project – it’s precisely what makes them special.
“New Tasmanian duo Sumner is crashing onto the scene with their bold debut track, ‘Pictures’, and there is certainly a lot packed into this here (brooding verses with overlapping lyrics, choruses that are bursting with synths, and groovy segments that consist of edgy guitar bits and distorted vocals).” – Hilly Dilly (Feb 2, 2018)
Recently having supported the acclaimed Vera Blue, Pnau, Montaigne, Alex Lahey and performing at Party In the Paddock Festival and Falls Festival; Sumner are fast developing their live show which has been described as warm, vulnerable and addictive, leaving audiences wanting more.
