Festivals, events and venues are the primary platforms for the presentation of live music. They act as incubators of local talent, ensuring that performers have the fan-base and stagecraft to develop a career. Tasmania has a thriving live music scene, with world class festivals, events and a network of dedicated venues, that all contribute to the economic and cultural value of the state.
A recent report by the Live Music Office and the University of Tasmania determined that the live music sector contributed $15.7 billion to the Australian economy in 2014. The report found that for every dollar spent on live music, three dollars of benefit is returned to the wider community.
