Local music festival Hobart + Music = Yeah! and national advocacy body LISTEN have joined forces to create an event at Hobart’s Grand Poobah on the 21 November 2015.

The event, featuring talented Melbourne artists Love of Diagrams, Evelyn Morris and Sarah Chadwick, will run across seven hours, presenting a breadth of musical genres including the synth and a capella drones of Sydney artist Ela Stiles, who is also bringing her band, The Rangoons to town. Also on the line up is the break-core noise performance of CoverGirl, the ghostly radio of Julia Drouhin,as well as local legends Zoe Zac and The Native Cats.

LISTEN was started in Melbourne by musician Evelyn Morris in response to the tired, exclusionary conversations around music and gender. A huge groundswell of interest in continuing the conversation surfaced, and LISTEN was born as a space to talk about gender and music. The website has been quickly populated by essays, interviews and images, and the project now extends to monthly 'Listening Parties' that showcase music created by women, a record label and a conference.

Hobart + Listen = Yeah! is the first LISTEN showcase in Hobart and has been made possible by a Community Grant from the Hobart City Council.

WHEN: Saturday 21 November 2015, doors open 3.30pm
