Need help to make your great idea happen?

Arts Tasmania is offering some great opportunities for artists around the state at the beginning of August.

There are free grant writing workshops, appointments available with Australia Council staff and free forums to hear about opportunities (including project grants, residencies, travel funding and fellowships) available to artists at local, state, national and international levels.

You are welcome to register for one or all of the opportunities available, but places will be limited and bookings are essential. Get in quick!

Launceston - Monday, 1 August

Grant writing workshop: everything you ever wanted to know about applying for arts grants

Would you like to apply for an arts grant but don’t know where to start? Or have you applied for a grant before but have not been successful?

This workshop, presented by Arts Tasmania program officers, is designed to give you an overview of what you need to do to make a successful grant application.

You’ll learn about all aspects of making a successful grant application including the pitch, project descriptions, getting your budget right, project planning and timelines and presenting artistic support material.

You’ll get lots of tips and tricks to make your applications shine.

Cost: Free, includes a light lunch. Please note terms of registration.

These workshops are offered free of charge. However, due to limited places, if you register and do not attend without providing 24 hours’ notice of your withdrawal to Arts Tasmania, we will invoice you to the value of your registered workshop sessions: $25 per session.

Australia Council for the Arts meetings

Sandra Collins, the Manager - Outreach & Pre-application from the Australia Council for the Arts will be available at the workshop venues for individual appointments to discuss your projects and applications to the Australia Council.

Arts opportunity forum: project grants and beyond

Applications for Arts Tasmania’s Artist Investment Program have closed, but there are heaps of other opportunities on offer for practicing and emerging artists. This will be a fast and furious session to give you information on some great opportunities that may broaden your horizons and your mind.

You will get the low down on opportunities including project grants, residencies, travel funding and fellowships from representatives of

  • The Australia Council for the Arts  
  • Tasmanian Regional Arts  
  • Arts Tasmania  
  • City of Hobart (Hobart session)  

Plus you’ll hear from artists about their experiences with the programs.

Cost: Free, but registration is essential. Light refreshments will be provided.
