Songs from the Edge features Madelena
Take yourself on a majestic journey with Tassie folk-pop artist, Madelena.
The last two years have been full of writing and gigging for Madelena with the release of her debut single My Lightest Shade in 2016 and then after months of writing and gigging with new material she put together her first EP Scrapbook launched in August 2017.
She’s performed at Dark Mofo, Festival of Voices, Junction Arts Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Falls Festival Marion Bay and nayri niara good spirit festival plus many more bars, pubs and functions.
According to Madelena "This Beat of Ours" "is a reminder to come back to the present and just chill out, maybe have a dance, and enjoy where you’re at. Make some new plans to look forward to if your current one isn’t working out and avoid spending too much time alone dwelling on things out of your control. I wrote it trying to capture the feeling of carefree-happiness and joy found in friendship, love and family. It’s amazing how easy it is to slip so far from that but cranking some tunes and busting a few moves can really help change your mood and perspective."
Supported by UTAS, Songs from the Edge brings together Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music students with professional artists to produce live film clips in unique locations. Check them all out here.
The film clip for "This Beat of Ours" was recorded live in Hobart by UTAS students Timothy Chivers, Ian Parsons and Paul-Leo Keutmann.
