Tassie BIGSOUND Party

We’ve teamed-up with BIGSOUND to give three Tasmanian acts the amazing opportunity to perform as part of this year’s massive festival, which takes place in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from 5-8 September.

For the first time ever, Music Tasmania is excited to be hosting an official Lunchtime Party on Wednesday 6 September from 12:30-2:00 pm at The Brightside (Outdoor Stage) in Brisbane.

BIGSOUND has just unveiled its first round of tastemaker attendees and speakers, drawing from a massive pool of buyers, talent scouts and A&R from around the globe, along with some inspirational local legends. Heading the line-up are two Australian artist keynotes, Archie Roach and Tina Arena along with some of the hottest music tastemakers including Quentin Tarantino’s music supervisor Mary Ramos (USA) and many more. Click here for more info about the BIGSOUND conference program.

The Tassie Party will give BIGSOUND's national audience a chance to check out some of our awesome local talent and give the three selected acts greater access to industry support, such as managers, labels, and publicists; and national distribution channels, including radio and touring networks.

How are we going to choose only three Tassie acts, I hear you ask?

It’s a really tough decision, so we’ve asked some industry heavyweights to help us choose! Assisting to select the Tassie BIGSOUND Party acts this year are:

Joel was a founding director of the legendary Brisbane DIY venue The Hangar, and has worked in a diversity of roles through out his career, including music tech R&D, organisational change management and social research. His own musical passion projects are in the ambient/experimental and country genres.

Ryan Limb and Jesse Higgs
Ryan and Jesse are the founders of Tasmanian boutique-radical festival darling PARTY IN THE PADDOCK. Maintaining its atmosphere from the humble beginnings in 2013, PITP is known for having one of the most chilled vibes and best darn line-ups in the Australian festival circuit.

Chloe is a founding board member of LISTEN, co-founder and director of affiliated record label LISTEN Records, full time operations and marketing administrator for Music Victoria and artist coordinator at Paradise Music Festival.

Chris O’Neill
