The Nick Balcombe Foundation grant
Friends of the late Tasmanian musician Nick Balcombe have set up a grant for aspiring local musicians in his honour. The Nick Balcombe Foundation was formed following the sudden passing of Nick as a way to continue celebrating his music and to support other emerging musicians to live their dreams. ‘Living the dream’ was one of Nick’s catch phrases. If you're a Tasmanian-based musician or band looking to take your music to the next level so you can follow your dreams, then apply for the annual Nick Balcombe Foundation grant. If successful, you will receive $2 500 financial assistance, website and social media support and make important industry connections.
To apply provide either an EP, website or YouTube links etc, short mp4 clip (2min max) accompanied by a 1 page written submission (using the online application form) outlining why you believe you or your band should be the inaugural NBF Grant recipient. As the grant is to further your musical career please outline in your written statement how you believe the financial component should be used.
Applications will be assessed using specific assessment criteria by a panel composed of committee members, family and music industry colleagues. Candidates may be contacted for further information or interview depending on the process.
The successful musician/band will be announced at the annual NBF fundraising event at the end of February 2016 and contacted by phone, email or in person prior to the announcement.
